The Times Herald reports on the unanimous township board approval of Tangent’s solar project for Colonial School District, and what the project means for the district. Dave Turner, chief operating officer of Tangent Energy Solutions, based out of Kennett Square, explained the agreement his company and the school district entered into, including designing, building, operating and financing 700 kilowatts of solar power on two different school buildings. Alexandra Atiya of Infrastructure Investor reports on Capital Dynamics acquisition of Tangent’s U.S. based solar projects. The 13 projects are all located in Pennsylvania and will primarily provide energy to industrial and educational sites, according to a statement. Rory Quinlan, managing director at Capital Dynamics, said the firm was interested in the projects because of “a combination of a good market and a good partner in Tangent”. Buchanan Elementary, Spring Garden Elementary and East Hills Middle School are the first in Bethlehem School District to use the sun for power. A deal with Tangent Energy Solutions allowed the district to forgo upfront costs. The project will save the district about $2 million in energy costs over the next 20 years.
